Tripura Engineering Services


By the provisions given in the Article 315 of the constitution, Tripura Public Service Commission was formed on 30th October 1972. The commission’s main responsibility is the recruitment of efficient eligible human resource to various departments in the state government. Due to hilly terrain and landscapes, the construction of roads or big infrastructure is challenging. Hence high qualified and technically sound engineers are required for the state. The commission takes this responsibility of recruiting talented engineers through engineering service exam. Other popular similar government job notifications are Madhya Pradesh Engineering services, Chattisgarh engineering services, etc.


Tripura public service commission recruits suitable candidates for the posts of Group A, Group B and Group C in the State Government. Positions such as Junior engineer grade I, Junior engineer Grade II, Assistant engineer etc., will also be recruited by the commission.


The minimum age for the candidates to apply will be decided by the commission during the notification. The candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in the concerned engineering discipline for Assistant engineer and for Junior Engineer, TES Grade-V(B) & Junior Engineer-Grade-I. For junior Engineer-Grade-II (Group-C Non-Gazetted) at least a Diploma in concerned Branch of Engineering or its equivalent degree from recognized Institutions is necessary.


Relaxation for physically handicapped and other categories will be as per the government rules.

Application Procedure

How to Apply

  • Candidates should fill the Application form with required details.
  • Exam fees should be deposited in Account No.31176521319 or Tripura Gramin Bank, A/C No.14711 or State Bank of India in the favor of the Secretary, Tripura Public Service Commission
  • Bank Receipt should be affixed in box specified on the 2nd page of application
  • The filled application form along with requisite certificate copies that are self-attested should be posted to the commission in an envelope.

Selection procedure

The Examination comprises of two stages viz. written Examination and Personality Test/interview. The preliminary examination will be of qualifying in nature only the candidates qualified for prelims will be allowed to write mains examination. The candidates who perform well will be called for interviews.

Examination Pattern

Written examination

The Written Examination consists of 1 compulsory paper i.e “General Studies” of one-hour duration and carries 100 marks and two optional papers in the concerned branch of engineering for 3 hours duration carrying 200 marks each. Answers should be written in English only. However, the paper “General Studies” will be of MCQ type questions 50 no. and each question carries 2 (Two) marks.

Paper I consists of the following segments

  1. Comprehension of a given passage
  2. Vocabulary (Synonyms & antonyms, idioms & phrases)
  3. Usage (Corrections)
  4. General Knowledge: Besides standard GK. Questions on Tripura and its topography will also be included.
  5. Current Affairs
  6. Mental Ability

Optional Examination

The breakup of marks and question pattern for optional subjects will be as follows:

Personality Test

Candidates qualified in mains examination will be called for the interview/Personality Test. Usually, three times the number of total posts (in category wise) will be called for interview. Total marks assigned to this test will be 50. Final merit list will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in the mains examination and personality test.
