Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test

Introduction

Punjab Teachers Eligibility Test (PSTET) is an eligibility test conducted by the government of Punjab for filling in the teaching posts across the state. The exam is mandatory that qualifies one for a primary or upper primary teaching position at school level across the State. Regular notifications pertaining to the vacancies and exam dates are released by the government on need basis. Other state that releases TET notifications are Assam, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, etc. In order to stay updated about the notifications, candidates are advised to visit ‘Drona’ on regular basis.

1.Primary Level (class I-V)Candidates MUST have passed Senior Secondary or equivalent, having secured atleast 50% marks. He/she should also have passed or taking the final year of a two years Diploma in Elementary Education, whatever name it’s known by.

OR

Candidates MUST have passed Senior Secondary or equivalent, having secured atleast 45% marks. He/she should also have passed or taking the final year of a two years Diploma in Elementary Education, whatever name it’s known by and must be in accordance with the NCTE in terms of Recognition Norms and Procedure, Regulations, 2002.

OR

Candidate MUST have passed Senior Secondary or equivalent, having secured atleast 50% marks. He/she should also have passed or taking the final year of a four years Bachelor’s of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

Candidates MUST have passed Senior Secondary or equivalent, having secured atleast 50% marks. He/she should also have passed or taking the final year of a two years Diploma in Education.

OR

Candidate MUST be a Graduate and must have passed or taking the final year of a two years Diploma in Elementary Education, whatever name it’s known by.

2.Upper Primary Level (class VI-VIII)Candidate MUST be a Graduate and must have passed or taking the final year of a two years Diploma in Elementary Education, whatever name it’s known by.

OR

Candidate MUST be a Graduate, having secured at least 50% marks and must have passed or taking one year Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed).

OR

Candidate MUST be a Graduate, having secured atleast 45% marks. He/she should also have passed or taking one year Bachelor’s in Education-B.Ed that should be in accordance with the NCTE in terms of Recognition, Norms and Procedure.

OR

Candidate MUST have passed a Senior Secondary or equivalent, having secured at least 50% marks. He/she should also have passed or taking final year of a four years Bachelor’s in the Elementary Education-B.El.Ed.

OR

Candidate MUST have passed a Senior Secondary or equivalent, having secured at least 50% marks and must have passed or taking the final year of a four years B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

Candidate MUST be a Graduate, having secured at least 50% marks. He/she should also have passed or taking a one year B.Ed.

Relaxations

Educational Relaxations

For candidates belonging to reserved categories viz. SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled etc., there is a 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification marks.

Qualifying Marks

There is a 5% concession in PSTET, decided by Punjab Government, to the candidates who belong to SC/ST,OBC, Differently-abled etc. in conformity with their extant reservation policy.

Notifications

Given the requirements of teaching staff, the notifications related to exams, vacancies, dates, etc. are updated from time to time. The other government post recruitments released in the state are he aspirants should keep visiting ‘Drona’ to keep a track of all the notifications that are updated on the website in a timely manner.

Application Procedure Online Registration (Step-I)

  • Candidates who are eligible shall apply on-line for the PSTET-I or PSTET-II or both through the website.
  • To ensure the accuracy of information, candidates are advised to carry all the credentials, scanned photograph and signature while applying online.
  • Candidates, interested in both PSTET-I & PSTET-II, do not need to apply separately. A single registration would suffice.
  • Candidates are suggested to fill the information very carefully because post-registration editing is not allowed.

Uploading Photo and Signature (Step-II)

  • Candidates are supposed to upload their recent coloured passport size photograph and signature on the panel to accomplish the registration process successfully.
  • Printing of the confirmation page is possible only after uploading the photograph and signature. The size of both MUST be less than 1MB.

Payment of Fee (Step-III)

  • After the registration is done successfully, candidates are allowed to deposit the fee from the three available payment modes viz.: below:
  • Credit/Debit Card
  • Any Master/Visa Credit/Debit Card can be used to pay the fee.
  • Net Banking
  • The net-banking option can also be used to deposit the fee.
  • Printing of Bank Challan
  • Candidates can pay the fee through bank challan as well.

Confirmation of Examination Fee (Step-IV)

The fee status will be updated in candidate’s login only after 48 hours of deposition of fee in the bank. Candidates can then log-in their accounts on official site and proceed for printing of confirmation page.

Confirmation Page (Step-V)

Candidates must put their signatures at the specified place of the confirmation page. Confirmation Page must be kept as a reference for future correspondence.

Selection Procedure

Punjab TET Exam consists of two Papers viz. Paper-I & Paper-II. Both papers contain 150 Objective type questions respectively with 1 mark each. Total marks are 150 for each.

Punjab TET Paper-I

Candidates who aspire for teaching positions from Class I to V in Punjab Primary School.

Punjab TET Paper-II

Candidates who aspire for teaching positions from Class VI to VIII in Punjab Upper Primary School.

Candidates who aspire for teaching positions right from primary level to upper primary level i.e. from Class I to VIII MUST pass both the papers.
