Out of the total 4,521 posts sanctioned in Punjab Bureau of Investigation, 798 experts will be recruited directly as civilian support staff for bureau to get a fresh blood and growing with the induction of 4251 candidates across different ranks and positions for reconstructing the Punjab Police department.
This restructuring was approved by Cabinet, led by CM at VC meeting. This will enable the bureau to recruit the candidates in the ranks of Sub-Inspectors/Head Constables and Constables by eliminating 4849 existing posts. According to the officials, recruitment of 1481 police officers (297 SIs, 811 Head Constables and 373 Constables), 159 Ministerial staff, and remaining 1,947 posts of Subordinate Ranks (Inspector to Constables) will take place.
