Mizoram Combined Competitive Examination

Introduction

Mizoram with Aizawl as its capital, is the southernmost state of Northeast India. Mizoram is a landlocked state sharing its boundary with Myanmar and Bangladesh. Mizoram attained its full statehood on 20 February 1987. Mizoram is the second least popular state of the nation, having a population of about eleven lakhs. About 91% of the geographical area of the state is covered by forest.

Combined Competitive Examination is conducted by public service commission of Mizoram to recruit deserving candidates into the vacant post in different civil Services of Mizoram such as Mizoram Finance & Accounts Service, Mizoram Police Service, and Mizoram Information Service. Gujarat Civil Services, Haryana Civil ServicesNagaland Civil Service Exam, WB Civil Service Executive Exams, are other popular state level administrative exams.

Positions

Through this exam, commission recruits candidates for Mizoram Civil Service, Mizoram Finance & Accounts Service, Mizoram Police Service and Mizoram Information Service.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Candidate must be a citizen of India as per the Article 5 – 7 of the Constitution.
  2. Candidates must be a resident of Mizoram from his ancestors or lineage till now.
  3. Candidates must have a minimum age of 21 years and not more than 35 years
  4. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from any recognized university
  5. Candidate must have Working Knowledge of Mizo Language.

Relaxations

The upper age limit will be relaxed by 5 years for S.C. and S.T. candidates. The age relaxation for PwD will be 10 yrs.

Selection Procedure

There are three stages in the selection process and are listed below.

  •     Preliminary Examination
  •     Main Examination
  •     Interview/ Viva-voce

First candidates need to clear preliminary examination which will be qualifying in nature. The next stage would be mains examination after which the candidates will become eligible for the final process in the selection i.e., interview. The candidates are selected for the posts based on their performance in the written exam and interview. However, commission conducts a physical test for police service candidates and a medical test for remaining posts before selecting the candidates for the post. Application Procedure

  • Candidates should download the application form from the Official website mpsc.mizoram.gov.in
  • Then the candidates need to fill the form and should post it to the prescribed address along with the requisite documents and examination fee.

Exam Pattern

Prelims

Preliminary Examination is Objective Type and is qualifying in nature for selection of candidates to Main Examination. The Preliminary Examination will be having two papers carrying 200 marks each and 2 (two) hrs time is allotted to each paper.

Main Examination

There will be four compulsory papers each carrying 100 marks and two optional subjects of two papers each in the Mains examination. These optional papers also carry 100 marks each. Each paper will be given three hours of time. The questions asked in the paper will be in English and of conventional essay type except for Mizo language papers. Physically Disabled candidates especially blind will be allowed to engage scribe but on their own expense, if necessary.

Interview

The candidates qualified in mains Examination for all the services will have to appear Personality Test. The interview board assesses the candidate‘s personal qualities like the power of clear and logical exposition, leadership qualities, alertness of mind, intellectual and moral integrity. This test is allotted with 100 marks.
