Meghalaya Police Recruitment

Introduction

Meghalaya Police Department is also the law enforcement agency for the state of Meghalaya in India. The department was a part of the Assam Police before the separation of the State and the department came into existence in 1972. The department is currently headed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Shri P.J.P. Hanaman. The headquarters of the Meghalaya Police is in the Secretariat Hill, Shillong. The other important state police recruitment are conducted in Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Arunachal pradesh, etc.

Physical Standards

Height

  • Male candidates of Scheduled Tribes including other tribes of Meghalaya MUST have at least 157 Cm and candidates from others categories MUST have 162 Cm height.
  • Female candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes including other tribes of Meghalaya
  • MUST be at least 152 Cm in height while Female candidates of others categories MUST have 157 Cm.

Physical Efficiency Test

  • For those who belong to Unarmed Branch Sub-inspectors (UBSIs)/ UB Group/Armed Branch Sub-inspectors (ABSIs)/ AB Group candidates category
  • Male candidates MUST cover a distance of 5 km in 24 minutes
  • Female candidates MUST cover a distance of 3 km in 19 minutes

Relaxations

  • The candidates who belong to SC/ST categories will have a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
  • Nationality
  • The candidate MUST be an Indian national and a State Subject of Meghalaya
  • Language Abilities
  • Candidates MUST be able to Speak, Read and Write at least one of the regional languages of the State.

Application Procedure

Aspiring candidates MUST collect the application forms which will be available at the offices of all the District Superintendents of Police and Commandants of MLP Battalions and Principal, RTS Mawroh, Shillong. The application should be filled with all the relevant details. The completely filled form should be sent to the prescribed address in an envelope with all the required documents.

Selection Procedure

Recruitment is done in five stages and the candidates are required to pass all the five to qualify for the applied position. Following are the stages of the selection process:

Physical Measurement Test

Physical Measurement Test intends to verify the physical standards of a candidate, required for the position he/she has applied for.

Physical Efficiency Test

To check the physical fitness, there are different criteria for males and females. One is supposed to pass the test in order to qualify for the position.

Written Examination

Candidates will have to appear and qualify the Written Test conducted by the department. This test is intended to check the candidate’s knowledge and general awareness. Drona provides important study materials to crack this exam.

Interview

Upon qualifying the Written Test, candidates will have to appear in the Interview.

Document Verification and Medical Examination

At last, the candidates who are able to qualify the Interview, their documents will be verified and besides that, they will be also taken for a medical examination.

Category-5 Followers

There will be no written test for followers. However, a general test of 150 marks will be conducted for them.

Academic Merit Test

The marks obtained during 10th standard board exam will be given a weightage of maximum 100 marks and for 12th standard board exam, it will be 200. Hence, shortlisting will be done considering the total score of 300 marks.

Based on the total marks secured in both the stages, candidates will be asked to submit their certificates for verification.

Medical Examination

Candidates, whose records are found correct and appropriate, shall be taken for a medical examination conducted by the Council.
