Madhya Pradesh Forest Department Recruitment

Introduction

Madhya Pradesh is blessed with rich and diverse forest resources and it is a reservoir of biodiversity having nine national parks and 25 sanctuaries. In Madhya Pradesh, the recorded forest area is 94,689 km2 which is about 30% of the total geographical area of the state. This forest area has been classified into “Reserved Forest” (65.3%), “Unclassified Forest” (0.18%) and “Protected Forest” (32.84%). Madhya Pradesh Forest Department was started in 1860 for the scientific management of forest and wildlife. Madhya Pradesh is the first state in India which started state forest policy in 1894 with a Working Plan. MP state public service commission conducts recruitment for the vacant posts in the forest department. Other popular state forest service exams are Tripura forestUttarakhand forest,  Telangana forest, meghalaya forest, Orissa forest, etc.

Positions

Department recruits human resource for various positions that are vacant based on the requirement. The important positions that are recruited by the forest department are given below.

  •        Assistant Conservator of Forest
  •        Forest Ranger

Pay scale

For Forest Ranger the pay scale will be 9300­-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 5400 and for Assistant Conservator of Forest: Rs. 15600­-39100­ + Grade Pay Rs. 5400/­

Eligibility

Education

For Forest Ranger and Assistant Conservator of Forest

Candidate must have passed a Degree in one of the subjects of Science/ Engineering/ Agriculture/Forestry from a recognised university.

During the graduation candidates should have Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Horticulture, Economics, Mathematics, Geology, Statistics, Agriculture, or in Engineering branches such as Civil/Electronic/Computer/ Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical as one of the main subject.

Age Limit

The age of the aspiring candidates must be in between 21 to 28 years.

Physical Standards

The aspiring candidates must have the below mentioned physical measurements

  •         For Male Candidates
  1. a)   Height – 163 cms
  2. b)   Chest (Normal) – 79 cms
  3. c)   Chest (Expanded) – 84 cms
  •         For Female Candidates
  1. a)   Height – 150 cms
  2. b)   Chest (Normal) – 74 cms
  3. c)   Chest (Expanded) – 79 cms

Relaxation

The relaxation of age educational qualification for the candidates belonging to SC/ST and BC will be as per the government rules.

  • Candidates should first ensure their eligibility and should go through the advertisement thoroughly

Selection Procedure

The selection of candidates for the vacant posts in the department is a three step process. First, the candidates need to qualify written exam. Then the qualified candidates need to undergo physical efficiency test and upon qualifying physical efficiency test the candidates will become eligible for interview/personality test.

Prelims

The written exam consists of two steps Preliminary and main examination. The preliminary exam is of qualifying in nature. It consist of two papers as listed below

Mains

The main examination comprises of four papers of which two papers will be from the optional subjects chosen by the candidates.

Interview

The interview is the final and also very important stage in the screening process. The interview board assesses the attitude and mental preparedness of the candidates with respect to the vacant job position.
