Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has uploaded the IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern on its official portal. Candidates who have cleared the prelims exam are only eligible to appear for mains exam. So, candidates who have cleared the prelims exam should have a clear idea regarding the syllabus and exam to start their preparation for IBPS PO Mains. IBPS PO Mains Objective Test Highlights 

  • IBPS PO Mains exam comprises two papers i.e, Objective and Descriptive tests
  • Both tests are conducted in online mode
  • The objective test is divided into four sections
  • In objective test, the total number of questions are 155
  • Each question has 5 options where only one is correct
  • The total marks are 200
  • There is negative marking for wrong answers
  • If wrong answer is given by the candidate, 1/4th of the assigned marks will be deducted as penalty
  • If no answer is marked by the candidate or question is left blank, there is no penalty for that question
  • The total duration for the objective test will be 180 minutes (3 hours)
  • There is sectional cut off and overall cut off
  • A specific time limit is allotted for each section

IBPS PO Mains Descriptive Test Highlights 

  • Descriptive test is conducted to judge the ability of the candidates on English written skills
  • An essay writing and letter will be given for 25 marks in a period of 30 minutes

Whats New in IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern 2020?

  • As per the latest news,the number of questions has decreased from 200 to 155
  • The duration of the objective exam has increased from 140 minutes to 180 minutes i.e, the time allotted to various sections has changed
  • Descriptive section has introduced recently carrying 25 marks to be completed in 30 minutes
  • There is no separate section for Computer knowledge as it was combined with Reasoning section

Q. Is descriptive marks added in IBPS PO?

The descriptive test marks (25) will be added with the objective test marks (200). The total cut off will be set out of 225 marks.

Q. Is there any sectional cutoff in IBPS PO mains?

Yes. The authorities will upload the sectional cut offs for IBPS PO Mains after the completion of the written exam.

Q. Does anyone fail in IBPS PO interview?

The passing marks for IBPS interview are 40 for UR category and 35 for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates. Based on this distribution of marks, there is a very less chance to fail in the interview unless if you argue with the panel member.
