Sikkim is one of the northeastern states of Himalayan state of India, is located in the north-eastern part of India. It became an integral part of Indian Union in 1975. The diverse geographical nature comprises of glaciers, wildflowers, and the highest Indian mountain Kanchenjunga. It is the only bio-geographic region in India which has different ecological systems. It is one of the three smallest Indian States which covers an area of 7096 square kilometers. Sikkim shares its boundary with Nepal, China, Bhutan and one Indian State West Bengal. It comprises of four districts and Gangtok is the capital city. One-fourth of its geographical area is covered by kangchendZonga National Park. The State has 11 official languages which comprise of English, Magar, Newari, Lepcha, Sikkimese, Nepali, Hindi, Tamang, Limbu, Rai, Gurung and Sunwar. The hilly state has a population of about 6.1 lakhs with 80 percent literacy rate and sex ratio of 889 females per 1000 males. Sikkim is India’s first organic farming state and it achieved this milestone of converting the state wide farming into organic in 2015. Basically, its economy is agrarian and rice is cultivated through terrace farming. The industrial sector is not robust due to the geographical barriers in the region. The education sector is well equipped with good infrastructure and has 1,157 schools which include 765 private schools. The largest institution Sikkim Manipal University offers a diverse range of courses to the students, which includes Technological Sciences, management, engineering, medicine, and management. To recruit eligible candidates into various government posts, state government releases various notifications such as Sikkim HRDDSikkim PoliceSikkim PSC, etc.

Sikkim Public Service Commission takes the responsibility of conducting recruiting process to infuse eligible candidates into various departments of the state. SPSC was formed as per the constitutional provision of Article 315 and started functioning from 1982. The Commission conducts examinations for Group B, state services, teaching posts and above positions to select suitable candidates for the posts. Shri. T. B. Rajalim is the present Chairman of Sikkim Public Service Commission and Shri. P.T.
