APPSC Group IV 2018 Notification

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission conducts examination to fill various vacancies of Group IV posts in the State of APPSC Jobs. Junior Assistant and Junior Accountant positions in various departments of Andhra Pradesh State fall under Group IV category. Huge number of candidates appear in this exam every year and the notifications will be released based on the requirement. In 2012, nearly 10 lakh candidates have applied for the exam which shows the tremendous competition prevailing for this exam. But, a good preparation plan and a good strategy can surely help you win! Educational Details

Must have passed the plus two exams conducted by  A.P. BIE or its equivalent.


Pass in (a) Office Automation/

(b) PC Maintenance and Troubleshooting/

(c) Web designing

Certificate course Examinations conducted by the Board of Technical Education and Training, A.P. Hyderabad


Graduation in Bachelor’s of Computer Application (BCA) or B.Sc., (Comp.) or B.A.  (Comp.) or B.Tech/B.E. with Computer Science or Information Technology or its equivalent examination of

above, recognised by govt of India or UGC.

Age Limit

APPSC Group 4 Positions age limit is 18-36 years


Rs. 8,440 – 24,950


The candidates can claim age relaxation as follows:

  • For Retrenched temporary employees in the State Census Department having a minimum service of 6 months the relaxation will be three years
  • A.P. State Government Employees will be given five years of age relaxation
  • Upper age relaxation of three years will be given for N.C.C Instructors and ex-servicemen.
  • Five years for SC/ST and BC candidates.
  • Ten years for Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates.


  • Eighty percent of the posts are reserved for local (District) candidates, and 20% of the posts are filled by non-locals as per merit.
  • SC/ST, BC reservations are given as per the govt. rules and vacancies available.
  • There is reservation for Women as per norms.
  • Reservation for Physically Disabled are subjected to the eligibility of the respective posts.


Appsc will release the notification for Group IV through their official website ‘www.psc.ap.gov.in‘. Candidates are advised to check the Drona website regularly for latest updates even for other APPSC exams such as APPSC Group – 1, APPSC Group – II, APPSC Group – III, etc.

APPSC Group 4 Application Procedure

  • Candidates must visit the official website psc.ap.gov.in and should navigate to one time profile registration (OTPR) button.
  • Click on New Registration and an online application form will be displayed
  • Enter the Aadhar card number and other necessary details
  • Upload scanned copies of passport photograph and signature.
  • Select on the type of notification you prefer and click submit to generate ID and Password to login to website.
  • Candidates need to save the ID and Password for future references.

Selection Procedure

Step 1 : Written test

All the candidates have to appear for the written exam.The written test consists of two papers and questions will be of objective type in both the papers.

Step 2 : Documents verification

The candidates will be called for the documents verification after they clear the exam successfully. Employment is confirmed only after the document verification. The written test and documents verification dates will be communicated to the candidate by the commission.

APPSC Group 4 Exam Pattern

  • The written test will be having two papers i.e., Paper-I and Paper-II
  • Each paper will be for 150 marks and the duration given for each paper is 2 ½ hours

AP Group 4 Syllabus

A detailed syllabus for the Group IV is given below.

Paper 1- General Studies


Candidate has a lot of scope of scoring more in this subject. Most of the questions are asked from Independence struggle of India. Other important topics include History of Modern India, Indian National Movement, Cultural Movements in Andhra Pradesh upto 1956, Challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation.


In Geography, stay focused on chapters like Country capitals, State capitals, Rivers, Dams etc. About 10 questions could be asked from Geography. Textbooks from 6th to 10th class is recommended for preparation.


Only limited questions are asked from Civics. The following chapters should be studied well. Focus on Rights and Duties of a citizen, Government and political system, Electoral system, etc.


It is recommended to study economic growth and reforms of state and country well. Basic Concepts relating to national income such as Budget, Finance, Export and Imports, Planning commission of India should also be understood well.

Physical Science

It includes Physics and Chemistry. The basics of Sound, Heat, Electricity, Electro Magnetism and their usage in the day to day life are recommended to be studied. The questions are also asked from Element Classification, Chemical bonding, Periodic table, Atomic numbers, etc.

Natural Science

It includes topics related to Biology and Zoology. This include general concepts like Bacteria, Animal kingdom, Food, Viruses, Plant kingdom, Diseases, Medicine, Cultivation etc.

Current Affairs

Current Affairs hold a lot of importance in this exam. There are plenty of questions asked from this section. Candidates are advised to spend ample time in preparing for this particular section and stay up to date with the current affairs in the state, country and the world. Newspapers are the best source for latest current affairs.

Disaster Management

Basics of  Disaster Management such as Floods, Earthquakes, Droughts, Volcanoes, Cyclones and other Man made disasters hold a lot of importance. Causes and after effects/consequences of the disaster, and preventive measures to be taken should also be focused upon.

Bifurcation of Andhra pradesh

This is a recent addition in this paper. A good number of questions are expected to be asked from this section. Study all the problems faced by Andhra pradesh after bifurcation, such as loss of capital city, challenges faced by administrative, social, cultural, political, financial and legal departments in building new capital and stabilizing the state.

Paper 2 – Secretarial Abilities

This Paper tests the analytical skills, logical abilities, accuracy and speed in solving the Mathematics, Aptitude, Reasoning and English language.

Mental Ability (Verbal and Nonverbal)

Questions from topics such as Synonyms, Antonyms, Spotting errors, Comprehension, Sentence formation etc cover the Verbal part. And topics such as Series, Analogy, Mirror images etc cover the Nonverbal part of Mental Ability.

Logical Reasoning

This section includes Number series, Analogies, Matching definitions, Statement and Conclusion related questions.


  • Read the syllabus thoroughly and give priorities to the topics based on the weightage given.
