Hills stations recorded temperature of 8°C above the normal temperature
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), Until 2010, the Historical data records showed that the highest-ever maximum temperature in March recorded by Mukteshwar was 28.5°C in 2004 and Shimla was 25.8°C in 2010.
This summer, maximum temperature surges were recorded in the hillstations of Mukteshwar in Uttarakhand and Kullu in Himachal Pradesh according to IMD.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) website, these towns recorded 27.2°C and 32°C about eight degrees above the normal temperature for the last week of March.
Other summer getaways in India, such as Dehradun in Uttarakhand, Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir and Shimla also in Himachal Pradesh, have registered a temperature of seven degrees above their previousnormal
The IMD had already predicted that the summer temperatures would be higher than normal in February in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and Kashmir.
These high temperatures in the north are due to a confluence of weather conditions such as Western Disturbances like storms in Mediterranean whichbringrain to thenorthwest and north India and dry south-westerly winds from Gujarat that are blowing to the northern parts of India.
These weather confluencesare coupled with an anticyclone, a that pulled in more warm air flowing towards north from the southwest.
Because of the meteorological confluence, several states such as Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Orissa, and Rajasthan have recorded severe heat wave conditions.
The IMD has already started the process of informing the State government to take necessary actions for preparing the comprehensive heat action plans to combat the heat for this summer.

Indian Railways in collaboration with Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) had developed environment friendly ‘Bio-toilets.’
This Bio-toilets leave human waste into a bio digester tank, which contains anaerobic bacteria which is arranged under the coach of a train.
These bacteriaconverthumane waste into gases and water by a process called methanogenisis, acetogenesis, acidogenesis and hydrolysis.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission initiative, Indian Railways had come up with an initiative to install bio toilets in all the coaches of train by September 2019.
