Kudankulam Unit 1 is Now Under the Control of India
The Unit 1 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) is now under thefull operational control of India, and an agreement was signed recently in this regard.
Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is present in the Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu a state in south India.
This plant uses pressurized water reactors designed by Russia.
The thermal capacity of these reactors are 3,000 MW, and gross electrical capacity of the plant is 1,000 MW.
However, the net capacity of the plant is only 917 MW.
After completion of all the units, thisplant will receive the tag of the largest nuclear power generation complex in India.
It will get a capacity of producing 2 GW of electric power.
Earth-like planet with Atmosphere was Found
For the first time Scientists have detected an Earth-like atmosphere around an exo planet.
The planet is GJ 1132b, which is 4-times the size of Earth and lies at a distance of 39 light from Earth.
This planet was discovered in 2015, and it orbits around a red dwarf star, and It lies in the constellation of Vela present in the southern hemisphere.
Scientists observed a thick layer of gassesand predicted that the gas might be water or methane or a both of them.
However, the atmosphere may not support life as the surface temperature is around 370C.
The possibility of supporting life is very low.
DNA Bank for Wild Animals to be Set in North India for the First Time
For the first in North India Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) has planned to set up a DNA bank for the wild animals.
So far Scientists have collected DNA samples from 140 species animals.
Currently, only one DNA bank is present in Hyderabad of Telangana state.
In the country, the setup of a second DNA bank is a milestone for wildlife conservation.
DNA bank helps the scientists to tell the name of the species even if only a small part of the animal such as part hair, skin, blood, bone, etc., of animal is available.
This move will help in controlling smuggling and wildlife poaching and helps in research on wildlife species.
help in building taxonomical trees if any new fossil or species is found.
