UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (NDA/NA) examination to select eligible candidates for the training of officers for Army wing i.e., Indian Army, navy wing i.e., Indian Air force, and Indian Navy in national defence academy.
Trainees for army, navy and naval wings of defence services. After completion of training, candidates will be given posts in their respective streams which are central government positions.
- (i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy candidates must pass 12th Class pass 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by any of the recognised State Education Board or any recognised University.
- (ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy candidates must pass 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of with Physics and Mathematics as one of the subjects conducted by any State Education Board or a University.
The age limit will be 16.5-19 years, and Candidates must not marry until they complete full training.

The Selection procedure consists of written examination, and upon qualifying the written examination, candidates need to attend a personality test or Psychological Aptitude test.
Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test has been introduced to select competent candidates at Selection Centres/Naval Selection Boards/Air Force Selection Boards. All the qualified candidates will be put to stage one test on the first day of reporting at Selection Centres/Naval Selection Boards/Air Force Selection Boards. Candidates who qualify the first stage will be admitted to the second stage or remaining tests. Selection of the candidates will be done based on the overall performance.
The Examination consists of two papers, and the first paper questions will be from Mathematics carrying 300 marks, and second paper will be from mathematics carrying 600 marks.
