Staff Selection Commission CGL Recruitment

Introduction

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was established in the year 1975, and it recruits staff for various Group B and Group C positions in the various Departments and Ministries under Government of India and its Subordinate Offices through Combined graduate level exam. SSC is a wing of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). Drona provides essential information for the preparation of this exam to the aspiring candidates. UPSC and RRB also conducts majority of the recruitments for selecting eligible candidates into the vacant government posts.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification
i) Assistant Audit Officer
Bachelor’s Degree from any recognised University or Institute.

Desirable Qualifications :Masters in Business Economics/Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce/Masters in Business Studies Chartered Accountant/cost & Management Accountant/Master’s in Business Administration (Finance)

ii) Statistical Investigator Grade – II

Any Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University or Institute and should have at least 60% in Mathematics in the intermediate or 12th standard.
OR
A Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects at degree level.

iii) Compiler

Bachelor’s Degree with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as one of the main subjects.

For all other Posts a Bachelor’s Degree from any recognised University or its equivalent.

Abbreviation used: One Leg (OL), One Arm (OA), One Arm and one Leg (OAL), Blind (B), Both Leg (BL), Low Vision (LV), Deaf(D), Partially Blind (PB), Partially Deaf (PD), Hearing Handicapped (HH).

Physical Standards:
(A) Inspector (Preventive Officer/Central Excise/Examiner/Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN):

Male Candidates:

(i). Physical Standards:
Height: 157.5 cms (For Assamese, Gorkhas, Garwalis,  and Scheduled Tribes candidates 152.5)

Chest:  81 cms. (with 5 cm of expansion on inspiration)

(ii) Physical Test:
Candidates need to walk 1600 metres in 15 minutes.
Cycling: 8 Kms. In 30 minutes.

Female Candidates:

(i). Physical Standards:
Height: 152 cms (For Gorkhas, Assamese, Garwalis,  and Members of Scheduled Tribes height will be relaxable by 2.5 cm)

Weight: 48 Kgs (Weight will be relaxable by 2 Kgs. for Assamese, Gorkhas, Garwalis,  and candidates of Scheduled Tribes)

(ii) Physical Test:
Walking: 1 Km. in 20 minutes.
Cycling: 3 Kms. in 25 minutes.

(B)Sub-Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation

Height:

Men – 165 cms.
Women – 150 cm.
Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals: 5 cm.

How To Apply

  • Candidates must apply through online mode only.
  • Candidates have to register in SSC website once and can apply for any examination conducted by SSC, and this one-time registration details will be stored in the database of SSC.
  • Candidates should visit the website and the online application contains two stages; Registration Part (If the candidates have not registered earlier) and Application Part
  • In the Registration Part, candidates have to fill both their basic information and all relevant details and must upload the scanned copies of signature and passport size photographs.
  • On submission of these details, Registration ID and password will appear, and candidates have to save the Registration ID and password.
  • In the application, part candidates are required to pay the prescribed fee as per the instructions and should submit the details.
  • Emails will be sent to the candidates upon completion of Part-II Registration, and a copy of this email have to be retained. This email can be used to produce at the Regional Office as proof in the event of any discrepancy.

Selection Procedure

The Selection Procedure consists of three stages including three tiers of examination and document verification. The other important released by the SSC are Multi tasking staff, Junior Hindi Translators and it also releases some important notifications for recruitment of eligible candidates into important government posts through CHSL notifications.

Examination Pattern

Tier-I Exam Pattern

  • This is an online exam and will be of objective type.
  • There will be 4 parts in a question paper, and each part carries 50 marks
  • Each part will have 25 questions.
  • Questions will be set in English & Hindi except for part 2.

Tier-II (Descriptive Paper)

This stage consists of two papers. In the first paper questions regarding quantitative aptitude will be asked and in the second paper candidates need to write essays, précis, letters, application writing, etc.This exam will be offline, and paper carries 200 marks. One hour time will be given to complete the exam, and the exam can be written either in Hindi or English.

Tier-III Examination:

Tier-III of the Examination will be the Skill Test such as typing Test or data entry test and this test will be of qualifying in nature. The final merit would be determined by the total score obtained by them in Tier-I and Tier-II.

NOTE: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in Tier-I exam. In Tier-II exams 0.25 negative marks in Paper-II and 0.50 marks in Paper-I & Paper-III for each wrong answer.
