Indian Navy Sailors Job Recruitment


Indian Navy selects eligible candidates for training and deputing them in various sections of sailors wing. The selected candidates have to undergo a naval orientation course and training related to their field. The selected candidates will also be given an opportunity to pursue higher studies. Eligibility Criteria


Aspiring candidates must have qualified 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Physics & Maths and Biology/Chemistry/Computer Science as one of these subjects.

The age limit will be 17-21 years on the day of enrolment.


  • MR (Chef and Steward) – Class X Pass
  • NMR (Sanitary Hygienist) – Class VI Pass

  • A pass with 60% or more marks in aggregate in 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Maths & Physics and Biology/Chemistry/Computer Science as one of these subjects.

Matric Recruits (MUSICIAN)

Candidate must have passed Class X, i.e., Matriculation Examination and should be proficient in aural aptitude, Western notation, and must have basic knowledge in the theory of Music. Candidates should possess actual practical skill on any Western classical or Percussion/Wind Instrument.

The age should be 17-21 years on the day of enrolment.

How To Apply

Selection Procedure


Advertisements for the recruitment of Matric Recruit (MR), Musician (MUS), Non-Matric Recruit (NMR), Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR), Sports Entry and Artificer Apprentices (AA) will be published in the Employment News and all the leading National/Regional Newspapers in Jun/Jul and Dec/Jan every year.


The application forms will be available in the official website from the date of advertisement for each type of entry. Candidates who are applying for more than one type of entry need to submit separate applications. Applications and the required documents must be sent only through Ordinary Post. Applications received through the registered post/speed post or couriers will be rejected. The board will send call letters to the eligible candidates for the written exam.

For recruitment of Musicians candidate’s proficiency in aural aptitude, Western notation, and actual practical skill in playing any musical Instrument will be tested.


Selected candidates should undergo a physical test comprising 1.6 Km run which has to be completed in 7 minutes, 10 Push-ups and 20 squats (Uthak Baithak). Candidates undergoing PFT will have to do at their own risk. The Written Test results will be generally declared on the same day. Those who qualify PFT must undergo Medical Examination.


The qualified candidates must have the entry level Medical standards and should be declared fit in the recruitment medical examination.


Merit List of the candidates who qualified in all aspects will be prepared at IHQ MoD (Navy), New Delhi and will be displayed in the respective Recruitment Centres. The selected candidates will be called for training.

Examination Pattern

The written examination will be conducted at the designated center on the pre-determined date and time. The question paper for this exam will be set both in English and Hindi, and the questions will be of objective type. The question paper will be having four sections i.e. Science, Mathematics, English, and General Knowledge and 60 minutes’ duration will be given to complete the exam. The candidates must pass in all the sections and in aggregate.
