As per the Act of Indian Parliament, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) was set up on April 2, 1990. SIDBI is the Principal Financial Institution intended for Promoting the Development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector by providing financial assistance. MSME sector is one of the important sectors in the country. It provides employment to the majority of the population. SIDBI brings co-ordination between the institutions which are engaged entrepreneurial or manufacturing activities. Since the inception of SIDBI, its operations have been expanded. Currently, it has more than 100 branches in India, especially in Industrial cluster areas. More interesting features can be found on the website Drona. Recently SIDBI has opened seven Micro Finance branches for providing loans up to 5 lakhs rupees for start-up and entrepreneurial promotion.

SIDBI gives its banking recruitment notification to invite applications from the eligible candidates for Manager position. The minimum educational qualification to apply is any Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% marks. Aspiring candidates must visit the official website, i.e., sidbi.in to apply for this exam. The selection procedure comprises two stages viz., an Online examination which will be having both Objective type and Descriptive type questions and a Personal Interview. Similar exam procedure is used to recruit managers in IDBI and assistant managers in NABARD

The online exam will have two parts, the first part of the question paper will have objective type questions and the second paper consists of descriptive type questions. The question in the first part of the paper will have five sections. Both the parts are to be written online. Part one will be allotted with 200 marks and part two, i.e.; descriptive part will be allotted with 50 marks. There will be 1/3rd marks penalty for the wrong answers. Even for recruiting SBI PO, SBI clerk, RBI posts, IBPS POs and IBPS Clerks almost similar pattern is followed. To qualify in the exam sound knowledge on GK and current affairs is necessary along with the Aptitude. Candidates who get qualified in the online exam will be called for personal interview.
