Assam PSC Recruitment

Introduction

Assam Public Service Commission conducts Assam Combined Competitive Examination. This exam is the only gateway for entry level Gazetted/bureaucratic jobs in the State. This examination is conducted to fill the vacancies in the state services such as Assam Administrative Service, Assam Accounts (G) Service, and Assam Police (G) Service, etc. Other important PSC recruitments of other states are APPSC, TSPSC, TNPSC, KSPSC, etc. Drona provides important current affairs and relevant GK to clear these exams.

Relaxations

  • The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and physically challenged persons.

Assam public service commission releases the notification of CCE. The aspirants should keep visiting ‘Drona’ to keep a track on all the notifications that are updated in a timely manner.

Application Procedure

Before applying online, candidates are advised to carefully go through the advertisement of the Combined Competitive Examination and should be ready with the scanned copies of the passport size colour photograph with white background and signature in JPEG/JPG or PNG format not exceeding 50 KB and 20 KB respectively.

FILLING UP AND SUBMITTING THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM

  • Candidates are required to visit the APSC’s office website www.apsc.nic.in.
  • Then they should navigate to “APPLY NOW” link.
  • The candidates are required to fill the entire application within 30 minutes.
  • Within the stipulated time candidates need to enter all the details.
  • Scanned Photograph and Signature are to be uploaded before submitting
  • After submission of the application form, the candidates should take a printout of the system generated Bank e-challan, Registration Slip, and Application Form.
  • Candidates should note that the candidate is not required to send any of these documents to the office of the Commission.
  • Then the examination fee should be paid at any branch of State Bank of India
  • The details of the fee payment such as journal number must be entered in the application by logging in the website using the registration number and date of birth.
  • The Online Application procedure is considered complete after successful submission of bank’s Journal Number.

Selection Procedure

The selection of candidates is done in three steps. Candidates need to qualify for all the three stages to enter the civil services. The three stages of the induction are as follows:

Stage-1 (Prelims)

The Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the Assam CCS. This exam is conducted to screen the candidates who can then be shortlisted for the next level, i.e. the Main Exam. This exam requires one to have a profound knowledge of the general knowledge and current affairs. Newspapers and magazines are a very good source of knowledge, especially for this exam. Aspirants must develop a habit of reading them on daily basis.

Stage-2 (Mains exam)

The questions in the exam will be of graduation standard. The qualifying marks will be set by the commission based on the vacancies.

Stage 3 (Interview)

After successfully qualifying the Prelims and Main exams, the candidates are then shortlisted for the interview which is the last stage of the selection procedure.

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination will be consisting of 2 papers of objective type questions and each paper will be allotted with 2 hours of time.

Main Examination

The Main Examination consists of (A) Written Examination and (B) Interview Test

(A) Written Examination

  1. i) The number of candidates selected for the Main Examination will be at least 11 to 12 times the number of vacancies mentioned in the notification. The selection of the candidates will be strictly on the basis of merit and the norms of Reservation.
  2. ii) The written examination will be consisting of seven papers and 3 hours of duration will be allotted to each paper. The questions asked in the examination will be conventional essay type.

(B) Interview

  • The interview will carry 200 marks.
  • The advisers deputed by the government of Assam will interview the candidates.
  • The marks scored in interview will be added to the marks scored in the Main Examination.
  • Ranking will be given to the candidates based on the total marks obtained in mains exam and interview.
